How Much Boost?

#1 I was wondering how much boost/hp/torque/etc a stock mkII turbo car can handle;i.e. engine load, tranny, lsd, cv axles.
#2 Whats the difference of the SW20 3SGTE GEN I,II,III, IV engine; higher boost? larger t/b, higher compression?.
#3 Which one has the twin entry turbo? Do you think i should swap out my stock mr2t for an entire SW20 3SGTE gen IV rear clip ($5500)? Or just build the stock one up for Street/track(not 1/4's)?
thanks

You can run 11 lbs of boost all day in a 1993 Turbo without any other mods. Fuel cut is about 11.8 lbs on the '93 and I think 9.8 on earlier years (not sure though). With this boost level and intake & turboback exhaust you'll be a little over 200 HP or so to the wheels. With a BCC or the like and a proper running mechanical car, you can run 14 lbs max in the stock turbo/intercooler config (reliably). Chang the turbo/intercooler/clutch and the rest of the car's drivetrain can handle about 300HP to the wheels before stuff starts breaking.
If you're starting from a mechanically sound turbo model to begin with, you'd be INSANE to spend $5,500 on a clip. There are lots of things you can do with $5,000 or less on a 2.

There is no such thing as an SW20 3S-GTE Gen IV rear clip, as Gen IV 3S-GTE's NEVER appeared in SW20 MR2's. Your best option would be to get a rear clip from a 94+ JDM MR2 turbo, as it will have a Gen III 3S-GTE, which is a fair bit better than a Gen II, as it has a MAP sensor (no flapper type airflow meter), a CT20B turbo (not CT26), along with various other differences.

I have 192,000 miles on my 3sgte engine (unopened) and I run 16 psi of boost on the street and 20-22 psi at the track.
This is out of a custom T3T4 turbocharger.
Fuel cut is 12 psi on 91-95 US model MR2s.

Go the Gen III (oct 1993 UP) if you can...WORLD of difference. My STOCK Gen III is quicker than my modded Gen II which was running 14psi plus a few other bits. Gen II's a good version BUT IF you wanna go long term go the Gen III.
