'01 A/C electrical issue

Hey all! I've got an '01 Bravada with a weird a/c issue. When I first start it up, I have a/c. Usually after about 5 minutes, it shuts down and blows hot. I read some other threads in the forum, and thought it might be that blower door motor behind the glove box. But the mompressor isn't turning, so nothing's getting cold after it shuts down (not the door, right?!). I took it to a local a/c shop for a free inspection. Turns out there's no power to the compressor. :banghead: Does anyone have a electrical schematic for the a/c system? Better yet, anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it??

Thanks for any help. Dave

The most common cause of an a/c compressor to not get electricity is low freon pressure causing the pressure switch to cut off power. An easy check is to overide the pressure switch with a jumper like a paper clip. An a/c shop should hvae caught that or at least have given you a reason for the problem. I'd take it somewhere else.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. Took the car to my pal at Autozone. He used the highly technical tool (paper clip) to over-ride my low pressure switch. Sure enough, that was it. $14.95 later, got a/c, and my Autozone friend even put it in for me. He was amazed Tuffy's (Mary Esther, FL) didn't say anything about potential causes either.

Thanks a bunch,
Dave
