Hi there everyone, this is my first WIP on AF, so hopefully I can work this all out. It's been great watching everyone elses, so I guess its my turn.
I'm using the Fujimi re-release of this kit. I loved this car ever since I saw a workmate build one. Unfortunately, this is only a curbside kit, but I don't mind, you can't see much once the body goes on.
Here is the standard box photo and a basic mockup of the chassis.

Some good friends, one being 360 Spider, gave me some great reference photos for this car. I started by spraying the chassis and installing the seat, this was a custom mixed colour (I only use Tamiya sprays) but I think it gives a good leather look. I then put a coat of Testors Dullcote over the top.

Next, I started work on the dash. Nothing special here, just scratched some toggle switches.

I then put the interior together. The kit comes with a small amount of P/E, so the seatbelts were made from this. I also added various SMS and Detail Master nuts and bolts detail as well. The logo on the steering wheel is a MFH item.

I then started the front suspension. The kit shocks were ok but it was too much hassle to clean them up and detail paint, so I just made new ones out of styrene and aluminium tubing and wire. I was quite pleased with the result, I just need to make some more for the rear.

My last photo for now is the start of the wheels. They come pre-painted but I chose to paint them with Tamiya Gold and then a dullcote over the top. I'm really happy with the colour, looks exactly like in the reference photo. I also scratched my tyre valves.

I don't know if it will help this far into your build but Historic Racing Miniatures make a resin engine and rear suspension set for this kit. It's available through Strada Sports http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page8.html - at the bottom of the page

Super jon Kane
The cockpit is to die for! Extremely cleanly built and well painted!
How did you get the crackle finish on the dash?
Don't be so tight with words - share your techniques, the are worth it! ;)

They aren't available just yet. There was a delay in making the exhaust. It should be any day now though. HRM makes some great kits. I have one on order from Strada and if it is anything like the 917 engine, it will be well worth the wait. As soon as it gets here, I will post pics for everyone to see.

Thanks everyone for being kind to the newbie. Klutz, I'm not being tight just dont have any techniques. The dash is done with Tamiya TS 29 Semi Gloss black.
I have another update. The wheels are basically finished, just need to have the knock offs added once on, and tyre markings. I do have a question, the kit includes markings for Goodyear and Firestone but I can't find anywhere to say which ones. Can anyone help, I will keep looking.

Thanks for showing me the resin engine, but this build is basically OOB. But to not have a vacant hole through to the other side, I did decide to simulate an engine with a couple bits of styrene. It effective for what I wanted, I'll let you decide.

I remade the rear shocks the same as the front. In fact, because I did it before, I actually made the shocks quicker than it would have taken to clean up the kit ones and paint them. I got them installed too.
Thanks for looking, where did the 4 stars come from, they are certainly not warranted.

Hi there all, this project is really dragging on now, thanks to my work being so busy. This shows that the body has been painted, polished and decals applied. It has since been polished again. It is so close to being finished and I cant wait, more projects to get on with.
Bill - no, I'm not having the logos on both sides of the tyres. Basically I didn't like the look of the logos on the wheels, maybe it was decal, but I decided I liked the look without them.

I still have one on order from Strada. Don't think it is in just yet. When it gets here, I will post some pics in a review. Also got the 71 917K tail from Renaissance. Hopefully soon. I'm really wondering how it compares to the MFH kit engines. I have two of the MFH kits, but not the coupe as mine are the spyder and the 412.

Hello Nic
You will not be disappointed with HRM's 330 eng kit all you will need is the interior from Renaissance so that the car will be correct. HRM's eng for the Porsche 917K and the GT40 are also really nice.

Nic: I ordered the 330P4 but I got the spider, other was OOP....
The 412 shouldn't (I mean the real stuff, I don't own -yet- the model so I can't compare) be so different from the 330P4: was just another way to register the car used by clients (4 lt. 12 cyl.) when the official P3 was updated to P4. For what I know the 412 should have weber carbs insthead P3/4's mec. ignition.
Kane: superb finishing job you done friend.
Dunno know if someone seen how Kamimura done with his 1/43 330P4 stuff, mainly speaking of PE rear vents...
The 412 shouldn't (I mean the real stuff, I don't own -yet- the model so I can't compare) be so different from the 330P4: was just another way to register the car used by clients (4 lt. 12 cyl.) when the official P3 was updated to P4. For what I know the 412 should have weber carbs insthead P3/4's mec. ignition.

...first build for AF, but many models built to date right!?
this can't be the work of a novice....
Kane is no stranger to model building! He has build many superb models, some of which you can see on BMC.
Way to go! Looks superclean.
