my dog just died today at the age of 12. Abby was a golden retriever, and an awesome dog. she died quickly, she had an enlarged heart, it was bothering her the past few days, and yesterday she went outside and layed down in our forest, we think she was going away to die. we finally found her, we thought she ran away, my dad carried her into the house and she drank water, then layed down again, didn't move until the next morning. he brought her to the vet and after some tests we found out that we may be able to buy her 3-6 extra months but it would be really expensive and we wouldn't be guaranteed that she would be without pain. my dad decided to have her put down, an extremely hard decision but i think the right one.

so now i feel like shit

My dog Carrie was put to sleep on Tuesday, she was a 13 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier - she had stopped eating for the last week so it was better for her.

my dog, Sasha, went missing in his 12th year for about a week. I finaly found him across the creek behind my place just before he died. i really think he left to find a place to die so not as to disturbe us to much.

anyways, in windows XP and Vista they have a place for a phrase that will remind you of you password. my password is my old dogs name and the phrase is "dog gone'

My condolences. :frown: While my parents never let me keep a pet, I imagine it’s like loosing a family member. Think about her every once & a while! That way she’ll never really be gone.

i just came home for the first time since she died and it's really hard not having her there. whenever i'd walk by her, at any time of the night, she'd look at me and wag her tail, didn't get any of that tonight.

i'm dealing with it better than i thought i would, i've sort of been preparing myself for it since my cousins dog (another golden, a few months older, but died 2 months younger) died about 6 months ago. it's still really hard but i'm doing alot better than i expected.

Mine died in june of this year, golden / yellow lab mix. She was the sweetest dog ever. Lucky for me, she made the decision to die on her own. I came home and she seemed fine at the time, and hour later she was dead and looking peaceful in her bed. I didn't even realize she was dead at first, the shock hit me after i tried to wake her up.

Post some pctures of your dog. I know its tough walking into your house and not having her there, but you'll get used to it. Man, now i feel bad all over again after this heh.

how she'd usually greet me when i got back from school:

and a pose she'd assume about 90% of the time:

she was a lazy dog, but very hyper when she wanted to be. she was also a huge attention whore, she'd just walk up to you and nudge your hand, then look at you with puppy dog eyes until you pet her.
