Engine Burns coolant

engine burns a small amount of coolant not noticalble until about a month later when i add a quart or so. i want to fix it but have no idea where its going? any ideas

Are you sure it's burning it? I'd expect an external leak, the intake is very common on most GM engines. What engine do you have?

Check the area around the water passages in the heads for signs of leakage - look at the front and rear group of bolts that hold the intake on and check the area surrounding.

Also, check to see if there's any blue/green streaking from any point on the radiator, and check also to see if the heater core might be the culprit. If the passenger front floor gets damp, or you smell coolant while you drive, those are signs of heater core leakage.
