Could this be a bad Alternator?

When in morning start-ups. My car seems to die down after seconds, unless I keep my foot on the accelerator to keep it from dying. And when it dies down I can see the battery needle on the gauge go crazy and then dead. After that the battery light turns on. But if I warm it up with some gas for a while it works fine, only on cold start-ups this problem occurs. Could this be a bad altornator starting to give up? Thanks for any responce.

Nah I don't think so, seems more like your rpm's are dropping too much and the alternator stops charging due to a lack of rpm.

Check idle speed control motor. This is what makes it idle faster when cold.

where can I find that. And how can I fix a lack of rpm.

It is located down behind the engine between the drivers side valve cover and the throttle body. You have to look down behind the engine to see it. it will look similar to, but not exactly like the one in the picture.

also check any and all electrical connections for corrosion, i had a 92LX that loved cooking the corrosion and messing my charging system up

Well, I was looking at things around my engine and I think I found a loose connection. I have a picture below (its dirty under the hood I know). But from what I've read, this is the idle speed control (circled in green). and I looked at the connections and one was loose (circled in red). Does anyone know what this connection goes to. I've looked around behind the engine but couldn't find anywhere it could have gone in.

The black thing is a EGR regulator and the plastic hose plugs into the top of EGR valve (the round thing below the EGR regulator).

Well, I got another hose that I just found lose. I tried to find the connection that it goes in the back of the engine somewhere, but I dont see anything or have a clue where it should go. Does anyone know? Thanks.

That hose goes down to the Idle Speed Control motor. Look down behind the engine directly under the hose below the wiper module and you will see where the hose plugs in. That could be your problem. It is tight down there. Good luck.

Wow, thanks. Found the linking hose tucked away out of sight. But once I put them together, I actualy got a little boost in performance. Plus I found the location of the speed idle control too. But...... after a while without feeding it some gas for a while, the engine still dies down. I maby thinking it could be a worn out fuel pump, becuase I can't get a reading on the fuel level either, so I may try replacing it and seeing how it improves.
Thankyou to all the replies. I really appreciate the sopport on this site.
