Hi guys ,
I was wondering how effective are in troubleshooting those pc software that show a bunch of real time data,
and
my second wondering would be what kind of software is "best" and the conector i need to buy (possibly cheap) to make use of that software.
Thanks in advance.

look around, there are many choices! you did'nt say whether you are an auto repair shop or not? If so, i can only speak for myself, after being in the business for 38 years, i have the older genisys obd II system and it still works fine! I have been looking at this new EScan Scan Tool by Automotve test solutions - www.AutomotiveTestSolutions.com (http://www.AutomotiveTestSolutions.com) ;also there is www.pico.com (http://www.pico.com), and I can't afford it, but this is the latest system out! - AXONE3 + TRIBOX mobile from TEXA USA INC. - www.texausa.com (http://www.texausa.com) I hope this helps!

Have you considered the scangauge?
Powered through the connector and small enough to keep permanently hooked up.

I am an idividual,not a machanic shop.
Scangauge all they do is showing some "simple" codes and nothing more, right?
At least thats my impression from the one i borrowed from murray's.
Thanks for the links Tommy. The software looks like is being given for free, all the mechanics have to buy is the hardware.Doesnt look kinda pricy paying $200 or more for just a connector?

A little more than that. Readout of 12 different values, can show and reset codes etc.

I bought one, but my japanese car has a different ECU to the US ones so it couldn't communicate.

I think you can also try www.autoobd.net (http://www.autoobd.net). is AD100 suitable to you?
