94 Grand Cherokee Radio Problems

I have recently bought a 94 Grand Cherokee Limited, and everything on it works fine except for the radio. It has the Infiniti Sound System in it. It comes on but there is no sound at all. I have found the amp under the back seat and there are two black boxes attached, one says Motorola, the other says nothing. Are these supposed to be there? What should I do to get sound through the speakers?

Update: I have been messing around with the jeep radio, and all the wires seem to be intact. When i turn off the radio and turn it right back on i have perfect sound, but only for 1 second. If i do this with the car off and the key turned to acc.....then it comes on for 2-3 seconds. then it goes right back off. What would cause this? What can i do to fix it? Also, when i took the radio out, i found a little black box that looked like a phone jack, and a wire w/ a plug that kind of looked like the plugs that are on headphones...but i couldn't see where those wires ran to....

I just had the Infinity radio go out this morning on my 95 GC. After errand stop I verified that the 15A fuse was good. Upon restarting, radio worked for ~15 seconds then went silent again. Power antenna goes up & down properly, but no sound from radio or CD. CD player accepts and rejects CD, but no sound. The display has been out for several years, so no clue from there.

I think my problem may be due to loose connection, broken wire, or possibly some other fuse if there is a power distribution setup under the hood.

I will check to see if I have similar black-box/jack/plug equipment that you describe on your 1994.

I had an old aftermarket cd player laying around the house, so i wired it up and threw it in and it worked like a champ. So i'm assuming that yours could also just be a bad headunit....except mine was a tape player and it wouldn't except tapes or anything....but the antenna worked fine and everything like you said....

ehy guys, i know this is an old thread but i have a question I'd like to add to this. One of my buddies has a 95 jeep gracnd cherokee laredo with the infinity radio and it randomly dies but if you smash the dash with your fist it works again. when it goes out the equalizer button lights go out and the antenna goes down and when you smash on the dash until it pops up it will come back in until you hit a bump or turn sharply. any ideas on how to fix it?

thank you in advance

I have the same problem with my 93, you smash it and it works, sometimes, and you hit a bump and it goes off. The antenna goes down and the radio turns off. I have checked all of the connections and fuses and am stumped. I haven't pulled the cover off in the wheel well yet to check the connections there because it's too cold in Canada to bother with that right now. If anyone has had this issue and has figured out how to fix it I would really like to know as well! Thanks!
