sometimes when i turn my car on the security light will stay on. and sometimes when i'm driving and the security light is off...it will turn on while i'm driving....why? how do i make this stop? does it have anything to do with my keyless entry remote?

anotehr thing...sometimes my blinker won't work....it just won't work and if i leave it in the "on" position eventually it turns back on and sometimes even while it's blinking it will stop. does anybody know why?

The blinkers not working are probably caused by a bad hazard light switch. The flasher for the blinkers is built into the hazard switch. Next time they fail, push the hazard switch a few times, and they might start working again. This is a known problem area with Aleros. Ask your dealer for a copy of Service Bulletin 04098A, issued Jan 2006. It doesn't apply to the 2003 Alero, but it does show how to replace the switch, with good step by step instructions. It isn't a hard job.

Are you having any problems starting the vehicle yet? Does your Alero have a pass key system? It could either be your VAPS sensor or your ignition switch going out.

All Aleros have the passlock system. It is a crappy system, delicate and prone to failure, and virtually useless for its intended purpose. When it fails partially, you will no longer be able to start your car without waiting ten minutes, doing what is called a "security relearn". When it fails completely, the car won't start ever.
Search for "Alero passlock", there's a bunch of good info on it here. You might find something about cutting a yellow wire and putting in resistors. I have done that, and it has solved the problem for me.

thanks guys...i have had problems starting my car a few times and ive had to wait 10 mintues until the security light stops blinking then the car will start. it's very frustrating not knowing when my car will start. i'd rather not have it activated. i'll look into getting it disconnected thank you so much!

Also another problem with the security is if you have a bunch of stuff hanging from the key chain it can cause the light to come on while driving and flash.
Removing excess things can solve this issue.

Thiers a TSB for this, but I'm not certain on the # of that.

GM Truck group UI Bulletin #26 describes a way install a switch to disable passlock in order to allow a remote starter to work. It is really for trucks, but could easily be modified to work for the Alero.
A better method would be to install resistors in the passlock circuit to make it think the correct key was always in the ignition. Search here for Alero passlock, you'll find a good step by step description of how to do it.
