restore my camry's performance

Hi All,
I have a 96 high mileage toyota camry (4 cyclinders). I got it from my relative when he moved back to east coast one year ago.
He was the original owner and the condition is good. But I found it is not powerful enough to accelerate quickly. I think it may need some tune up to resotre its performance. And also I am planing to add a trail hitch to it for occasional towing jobs.
What's kinds of tune up I can do by myself to restore its power? Change spark and ...?
thanks,

Spark plugs
cap
rotor
wires
fuel filter
oil and filter
That's about it. They're pretty bulletproof up through several hundred thousand miles. I doubt you're down on power more than about 4-5 hp unless those parts are in really bad shape. I guess what I'm saying is; they're wimpy, don't expect miracles from spark plugs.

Don't expect miracles from a Camry :)
As Curtis said they will run for ever, but only because they never go anywhere quickly.
Nothing wrong with giving it a tickle up, might find it makes it a bit smoother to drive, and it will certainly help it last longer.
Just don't expect any improvements in performance :)
