...it's the big black box in the intake system. Before you do anything, know that the OBDII system is very sensitive, and the fact that you can't find the MAS worries me about what you're going to try.

If you're trying that mod where you're supposedly trying to trick the ECU into thinking there is more air or colder air being drawn into the engine, in the end, all it is going to do is make your car run rich...just a heads up.

The mass air sensor is right where hobie said. If you have an oz you will see a big black box on the right side of your engine compartmant that connects to the front bumper where the hood closes. The small black box with the wire running to it is the MAS. If you are planning an intake I suggest an AEM cold air intake kit. It is more expensive than a short ram and only gives about 2-3 more Hp but if you get it powder coated it looks great. I have a blue one on my yellow 02 oz and it really sets off the engine. You can check them out at www.roadracemotorsports.com or www.aempower.com(I think this is aem's direct web site). A little word of caution, the intakes are very easy to put on, but if you do it yourself make sure you take your time and connect the mass air sensor facing the proper way. My cousin's and I rushed on mine and put the sensor on backwords at first. When you start the car if it sounds like it's coughing and cuts out it's on wrong. An easy way to remember is to make sure when you connect the MAS to the intake pipe (if that is what your planned mod is) the part where the wire harness plugs into the MAS should be facing to the left side. It will seem like wires aren't long enough to reach, but trust me they are.

As a closing thought I really must agree with Hobie Kopek, if you can't find the MAS on your own I would suggest taking the care to a professional even though the intake kit comes with idiot proof direction. I hope this helps you, and if you weren't thinking of a cold air intake you should. You get a great look and sound for a resonable price to start your modification process.

Thanx guys! I pretty much thought that was it considering it is connected to the air intake its self. I installed a short ram air intake for about $18. Nothing real fansy considering I dont have money for a cold air. Gave me about an 8hp boost and makes the engine sound a little throaty.

Good move. Best bang for the buck breathing mod you can make. Short rams work almost as well as CAI's (despite dyno claims I've run both and the difference is small). The cheaper the better and the bigger the filter surface area the better. Hope you're likin' it. :)
