Climate LCD too dim during the day

I have a 2003 xg350L....I bought it used about 6 mo. ago. During the day the climate display is too dim and cant be seen. When I turn on the headlights both the clock and radio dim, but, the climate LCD remains the same...Any input? The climate display seems to work fine at night, but, during the day with the lights off it seems to be on the night setting.
