Engine, Cam, Computer

Hey, so I want to rebuild a 2.8 v6 to put in my fiero I have an engine I can buy that came out a buddys fiero. If I put a nice cam and some new heads will that affect the computer. Someone mentioned it would mess it up and it wouldnt run right, might not even run at all. Possibly something about a knock sensor???? I dunno. Would I run into any problems if I rebuilt that motor and put it in my fiero. its out an 88 and mine is a 87
