computer port

I know this will sound fairly dumb but where is the computer port on a 02 sunfire 2.2 SFI i think it is underneath the dash below the steering wheel. I do a work on a lot of cars too bad it doesn't leave me with much time to puts around with mine I just had a check engine light come on and i want to check why it came on since i just replaced my head gasket.
