hi there, I have a 1996 gmc Jimmy slt. My problelm is that i was driving home today and realized the gauge for the temp was indicating full/high. i pulled over and shut the engine off, and realized that oil was leaking like crazy from underneath and i also heard a hisssing sound as if i had punctured my tires. After waiting for my engine to cool the hissing went away. i checked the oil level and not to my surprise it was close to empty. Luckily at this point i was only minutes away from home. so i decided to add more oil. At this point the temp gauge was in the middle, after a few seconds though it started to rise and as soon as i got home, same s**t happened. massive amount of oil leak and a hissing sound even with the engine off. Sorry for the long write up guys just wanted to get in as much detail as possible. Any suggestions.

I believe you have the dreaded remote oil line leak (blow out). You can purchase at any parts store. One is easy, one is a bitch.

Good luck.

Oil filter you have two lines, one to radiator the other to engine.
The one to the engine is the problem child. I had to unbolt the front differental to get enough clearance. Do a search, I know others have delt with this. Parts cost about $ 100.00.

Let me know if this is your problem.

That sure sounds like the oil line 'blow out' I had on my '95! DON'T DRIVE IT ANYMORE until you get that line replaced! By the time I figured out what happened on my '95, it was too late. $5K later (I threw 3 rods) - new engine.
