Toyota Vista 2000 Help

Dear Sir.
I am based in Zambia and own a 2000 Toyota Vista with a automatic D-4 Petrol engine.
Since we dont have a proper mechanics for tuning Toyota models, I would like to ask you if you can help me with my problems.
I recently changed the plugs and the fuel filter but the car, on some days keep on jurking and switching off when coming to a stop. On other days, it drives perfectly and gives no problem. This problem was also occuring before I changed the plugs and filter and it still is continuing.
I will really appreciate if you could help me out with this problem and email me any information/thing that need to be checked that could be useful to me.
