I quickly scanned recent threads and didn't see anyone else having my specific problem, so I'll just make up a new thread.
I have a 1989 VW Jetta that I just recently got about a week ago. It spent about a month at the mechanics for general repairs, I believe back breaks were replaced and just had a general tune up (as far as I know). A few days after I had the car, I had pulled over to the side of the road to answer my phone. After about a minute of sitting in the car idling it just turned off. Then it took a few tries to turn it back on, though I did try to turn it back on RIGHT after it had turned off. After that it ran fine. Then yesterday while driving through a parking lot, I was slowing down for speed bumps when I had just got the front tires over one of the bumps, I noticed the oil light start to flash, then the car turned off. Once I realised it was still in drive, and put it into park, the car started fine, and all was good. I checked the oil in the the car just the day before this happened, so I'm confindent that it's not low on oil. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions would be apperciated.

The oil light will come on when the pressure gets low. If the idle drops too low, the oil pump won't spin fast enough and you could get a light. You may have just got the light because your engine stalled. I would have the mechanic check your idle for you.
