1990 Mighty Max, 4 cyl, 2wd, auto. Left home Sat night and all was fine. Noticed a slight miss but minor. Without any sign/symptom of problem began blowing heavy white smoke with very strong odor of gas. CEL works but is still not on. Enough gas passing through exhaust to drip from tailpipe and pool on ground. No sign of gas in oil or any oil/coolant mixing. Checked plugs, 1 was a little too clean, the other 3 looked liked they should; only signs of good, clean burn. Checked throttle position senser, in indication of problem there and engine is responsive to accelerator pedal. Idle rpm is normal.:banghead:
Please help, I need to get this beast back on the road. Thanks

check fuel pressure regulator pinch off or take off vac and drive highway speeds.

Thank you for the reply but the symptoms do not fit fuel pressure regulator problem. That would have the engine running very badly if at all. I am thinking more in terms of a single injector, stuck open or a broken tip. Presently trying to remove injector rail with usual lack of success. Any suggestions on the bolt placement for the rail? Thanks again.
