Go synthetic or not

I've heard some conflicting report regarding the benefit of using synthetic oil. I've surfed the petroleum industry web sites and the reports from oil companies was that it's the best thing since birth control pills however, some reputable mechanics counter that it's a waste of my hard earned money.

I have a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL which I bought new. It now has 90K miles in its odometer. Following maintenance instructions in the User's Manual, the car has been performing great. Although the User's Manual recommend changing oil every 7500 miles, and oil filter every other oil change, I generally change oil (standard 5-30W) and filter every 3-4000 miles. I would like to change to synthetic oil (10-30W) and change oil and filter every 7500 miles. Would this be a prudent move, or a completely unnecessary move?

its good for the car but if you have leaks then its bad for your wallet but overall i would use synthetic but remember when you go synthetic you might have oil sludge or builup that might get knocked down from all the detergents and etc but it would be a good change for your car and stick with 10-30 until winter 10-40

10-30 in the summer and 5-30 in the winter if it gets cold where you are. Always synthetic.

Only if it gets cold. Where I live it doesn't get cold enough for me to need 5w. I run 10w all year. If you live up North, definitely a 5w in the winter.
