I decided to go all out on my head unit, and I want a touch screen DVD\CD\MP3 head unit (and prob with other stuff i havent decided if I want it yet or not).

My question is what is a reliable, kinda cheap (in the 300-400 range) that can do all of this? and thay have radio right? (dumb question but i cant find anything on any of the dvd head units about radio , and by the way im talking about the kind with the screen that pop out)

O.K. Ive been looking and I found 2 that I realy like and I dont know if there any good or if one is better than the other but they both have what I want and I just need to know which one is best for what im wanting to do.

1) the first one is the Phase Linear UV8 7" In-Dash DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Multimedia Receiver (http://www.caraudiodeals.com/phase-linear-uv8-indash-dvdcdmp3wma-multimedia-receiver-p-1209.html) http://www.caraudiodeals.com/phase-linear-uv8-indash-dvdcdmp3wma-multimedia-receiver-p-1209.html .

2)the second one is the Jensen VM9312 Touch Screen 7" TFT DVD/CD/MP3/WMA iPod XM AM/FM (http://www.caraudiodeals.com/jensen-vm9312-touch-screen-tft-dvdcdmp3wma-ipod-amfm-p-925.html) .

Thanks.

well, I think that the jensen is better. it is a better brand. not that good, but better.

Now I have a question for you. i have a sony cdx-g61ui stereo with an ipod port. and I was wondering if anyone knows if it is compatible with the brand new ipods apple is offering.

Jensen, the 2nd one, looks better. Has more features. I can't stand the Jensen brand though, just as bad as Dual. I should be getting this in the mail today
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069872_1986436,00.html

I got it used from Ebay for 482 bucks. I will post in a day or two and say how it is, but you may want to consider going there and bidding on a used better brand receiver, which you could very well get for that kind of money.

so yeah, the jensen is best out of the two but ebay does have really good deals. i bought two ma audio 500w 10 inch subs for 15 dollars each + 30$ shipping. they are being shipped on wednesday. So can anyone help me with my ipod problem? my post is up there. erick g

I assume you want something that plays DVD/CDs/MP3/WMA? Just about all good brand receivers will be able to do this. Panasonic, Pioneer, Clarion, heck even Kenwood wouldn't be a bad choice. Alpines are all right, but I hear some older models have weak motors for the screen that wear out easily or something. Just don't get a refurbished unit as they really aren't that reliable. Here is a link from a seller on Ebay selling Pioneer's entry level receiver for this year for a tad bit above your range, but it is new. Description he used is from Crutchfield.

If you really want new, then you're most likely gonna have to get a Jensen for that budget unless you search ebay for deals like the Pioneer above. Jensen is not bad, should get the job done, but there's better.

thats a really good deal sickcallaway c12 is showing us. i would say that it doesnt get any better than that. so do you guys think that two 500 watt 10 inch subs from ma audio would hit hard?

best way to find out about ipod compatability is to find a friend that has one and hook it up.

What is the best head unit I can get that is touch screen\dvd\cd\mp3 and anything else that I would probly need because there is a long list of what I want but those are the main things for around $400? Im gunna end up spending around $300-$400 more dollars then I was planning on just for a touch screen\dvd head unit. Soo do yall think its realy worth it?
And whats the best bargain I can get that is a good company name that wont brake on me and is in general just good?

I have always been partial to Alpine headunits ..... just my 2 cents

You can get a used good brand receiver for 500 bucks on ebay. Bargain. Pioneer usually has the cheapest priced models out of all the good brands. Alpine has the best screens on the market.

Does anybody know what size the head unit is in a toyota tundra is? this is a pic of it (not sure if you can tell fromhttp://i6.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/ba/71/60b6_12.JPG (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150167671757&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting) the pic but it might help)

I think its a double din or somethig and what does that mean ?

sickcallawayc12

Double DIN means that it can fit two receivers. Should be 4 inches tall and most Toyota trucks including yours should be double din. You are lucky since many DVD/navigation receivers are double din nowadays. You definitely won't find a worthy new model for 500, but should be able to get a good used one from ebay, especially if you don't need one with navigation.

So I found one that I raley like its a kenwood here it is but i havent gotten the price on it yet http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/Mobile_Video_n_Navigation/Mobile_Video/DDX7019

soo mis this a good one or should i keep looking

BikerPaintballdude
10-04-2007, 11:30 PM
ok srry bout all of the posts but i looked up the cheaper version of it which is the DDX6019 http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/Mobile_Video_n_Navigation/Mobile_Video/DDX6019

so my question is should i get the cheaper version for around the price of 450 which is in my price range or should i spend around 700 for the DDX7019 and would i realy be getting that much less if i went with the cheap version that i would regret it later?

You will probably be all right with the cheaper one. You get to add custom graphics if you get the other. The addition of a USB input is the only difference really.

ok so the screens arnt any different because I thought I read something about the screen that was different on the better one because i realy want a good screen that has good picture

sickcallawayc12
10-05-2007, 08:35 PM
Well, they both share the same screen specs so I assume they are the same screen.
Picture quality should be okay, if you really want great picture quality then see if ebay has a used Alpine DD sized model that fits your budget. My Pioneer receiver has the same picture quality as the Kenwood models (pixelwise) and while its all right, I don't believe it will impress people who really care about picture quality. I did not buy mine for the picture quality.

Ok I thonk im going to go with the cheaper brand but I am worrying about iy getting stollen because it doesent retract in to hide it so what can i do to make this thing seem invisible like making a cover for it or putting it in there with no way out and i think i read somthing about anti theaft password were it wont work if you dont have the password or does it do something else

And another thing what is bass control? It says it has it but im not sure what it is and I thought bass control was the little remote thing that comes with the AMP whats the diference between the two?

sickcallawayc12
10-06-2007, 12:28 PM
I dunno what the bass control is. I assume you can adjust the bass volume with it like most other decks. I also don't know what form of security feature(s) it has, but i'm sure it has something. I wouldn't really worry about the deck getting stolen though. I mean its a monitor with no buttons or anything. I think it would be much easier to attempt to steal a single DIN receiver versus the double sized one. I guess the best advice is to tint the windows and get an alarm system, roughly 300 bucks worth of security.

tinting the windows, putting nice rims on, altezza lights, stickers, etc .. just lets other people know you have a nice system.
