95 cutlass supreme, electrical problems

I was driving my 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme home and was noticing that the engine was idling high. At 55 miles and hour it would turning nearly 5500 on the rpm gauge. Shortly after this i noticed my ABS light on. Then I noticed that when i hit my brake pedal the stereo would cut out , my speedo and tach would jump up and other lites in the dash came on. The Dash lit up like a christmas tree and the car immediately starting idle bad, after a few miles the idling cured itself as i nursed the car home. As soon as i came to a red light the car died and i cannot start it. Recently i had a dealer replace a belt tensioner near the alternator and check my alternator/battery/ and changed the cables. They hooked it up to the computer and they released the car to me as they said it was good to go. A week later im pushin this thing down the street after it died at the stop light. What could be wrong with this thing??

5500 RPM's at 55mph Wow... I'm not an expert on all what the sensor's can cause a car to do, but maybe the Throttle Position Sensor is going bad.

As for the other things going crazy, I wouldn't know, unless someone at the dealer place you took it too, done something to the wiring. I would give them a call and be like "Hey, I brought my car here for some minor repairs, checkups, and now it's running horrible." Try to get them to find the problem at their cost, sense it seems like maybe something they caused.

Good Luck.

ok, ive pulled the battery. The charge was low, i recharged it put it the car and it started. Now I cant get the car out of park. The shifter will not move out of park. I rocked the car a bit to make sure it was binded up and my brake and shift button are pressed in fully, but the car will not go into park. All the things have to be related to something that is wrong with this car but i cannot figure it out as i said the dealer that put it on the computer says it shows no problems with the electrical system. There absolutely has to be an electrical problem.

Did you push in on the brake pedal? It won't come out of park unless the brake pedal is depressed.

of course i pushed the brake pedal in. Actually the pedal feels like its floored, makes me think of maybe a vacuum problem or something maybe?

at first i was thinking transmission problem, like maybe it was stuck in a lower gear, and not shifing up, then i thought maybe a bad TV cable adjustment, like its set wrong and thinks the throttle is at a different position then the ecm thinks, and its clashing. then i thought maybe the wiring issues is saying your at 5500 rpms, unless u can definettly tell the engine is racing, by sound or something...and it made sense that there is deff. a wring issue, but then you said something about vaccum, maybe lines are off, theres one that goes to the tranny that helps much in shifting and such, as well as the brake, it'll even effect cruise control, and rather or not the vents change. there are plenty of vaccum lines, maybe they all are damaged, or disconnected, or maybe its within the throttle body, or the whole intake is gummed up somehow. at this moment it sounds like it could almost be anything.
