98 Concorde cuts off!!!

I own a 98 Chrysler Concorde LXI 3.2. I have noticed that the car will shake and cut off after the RPM drops below 1/2 from lack of acceleration while in idle. I also notice a foul smell comming from the exhaust as I back up. Probably always smells, but I only smell it after backing the car into the odor. I thought it was a battery problem, but I have replaced the battery and the cables and had an oil change. It has also cut off in a drive thru. I'm nervous I'm going to loose my car and I MUST have this car for school so I can take care of my daughter on my own. PLEASE HELP ME!! Thanks!!!

New to this forum but I know a little about cars. Try having your exhaust system checked for a fouled catalytic converter and or a bad o2 sensor
