hello i am putting my engine back togeather and i put the cams on and then when i went to put the cam caps on i noticed that they had a few different numbers on them like one said E1 another E3 and they have arrows on them and i dont know whick way the arrows are supposed to point. I did read the FAQ and did not find any information on this. Thanks for the help

you may have forgotten to do this, but here it is for when you remove the cams NEXT time: keep the cam journal caps matched up to the exact same journal from which you removed them. for each cam there are 5 caps (one on each end and 3 in the middle). the arrows point in the same direction as the arrows on the inside of the heads (cam caps point toward timing belt side on front bank, and towards battery on rear bank). the E is the exhaust cam CAP and I is intake cam CAP. however some cams have different markings. make sure to torque the cam caps to the specific torque spec. use assembly lube or engine oil. see the following pics for all the detailed info.

i corrected myself. the info about which way to align the arrows on the cam caps was incorrect. now i fixed it. the last illustration shows that the arrows go in the same direction as the arrows in the heads.
