i have 2 12" rockford subwoofers i'm gonna build enclosures for. 2 questions:
#1: is fiberboard the correct material to make them out of?
#2: are these the correct dimentions;
Depth = 12.18inches
W = 17.40inches
H = 24.36inches
so aprox
Depth = 12 3/16inches
W = 17 3/8inches
H = 24 3/8inches
thanks

1) yes, use 5/8" or 3/4" MDF (medium density fiberboard)
2) 12.18 X 17.4 X 24.36 = 5162 in^3 / 1728 = 2.99 ft^3
minus about .4 ft^3 for the speaker baskets. If you are giving us the interior measurements, then it's a 3 ft^3 box for all intents and purposes.
ft^3 means "cubic feet" .... in^3 means "cubic inches"
1 ft^3 = 1728 in^3 (12 in X 12 in X 12in)

#1: Thanks!:thumbsup:
#2: I gave you the interior measurements (sorry i didn't specify), so it'll be a 3ft box. my question is, is that "correct" for the 12" subs?

I have no idea, the subs should have had a sheet with them that had the specs for the sub - including the recommended box size range

ahhh, ok thanks.
oh, and just to be sure, MDF at lowes is basicly fiberboard, right?

You'll recognize it cause it looks like the stuff they make those cheap ikea shelves out of.
