eco-tech 2.2 a non-interfenece engine???

i was driving down the road and the car stopped,had battery power,but thats it.Two mechanics said it was the timing chain.So i was wondering if the ecotech 2.2 was non-interference engine or not, and if not what are the chances i bent valves
