Need new engine.. What should I get..?

After suspecting that the problem was due to the distributor,
my mechanic told me the bad news...: My engine is dead.. (only 1 4th of it.. one cylinder is not working..)
He recommend me to put a used (45-5oK miles) engine there.
I have 1.5 dead engine on my car, and he said he can put 1.6l engine as well for 500 engine+ 400 labor.
Whar are your thoughts on it..?
Someone pointed out that there are different 1.6 engines..
What are the differences between B16a1, D16a6 and D16z6...?
Where can I get specs..?
For each of them, do I need to change the ECu tyranny and harness as well?
Where can I get these parts for cheap?

that sounds about right rates for that replacement. however, i need to point out....the 1.6 won't be any faster than 1.5 unless they do the MPFI conversion.

MPFI conversion is going from a dual port injection to mulit-port. :)

you might wanna consider the ZC, it will bolt up to your transmission, however if you have dualpoint fuel injection you will need to do a Multi point fuel inection modification.

you can get a ZC for like 500$ it's 130-140hp, DOHC

you might as well go witht he d16z6 just because it can easily be found and you can readily get parts for it from a dealer and it has a massive mod basis for a d-series engine

i personally think that you should just do the mpfi swap and then put in a y8 or a z6 because its more economical.............. but if you really want power, just go b series......

go all the way if you can afford it and get a b series!

I am going b18a then slowly building into an LS_VTEC (hehe) but if i get too impatient and have the lack of funds i will go d16z6 turbo. I would suggest u go d16z6 or d16y8 (both US spec sohc vtec motors) the swap is cheap and easy. Plenty of after market support and u can still change your oil with $20. :)
