crank position sensor help ford

ok i need the name of the part where the crank position sensor is inserted please help!!!!! i have a 98 ford escort zx2 the problem is that it doesn't start we switched out transmission but the part where the crank position sensor is inserted broke what is the name of that part

I believe the crank sensor on this engine is mounted in the engine block at the flywheel area. You should be able to remove the screws and dig it out if it is broken. If not, you should be able to open it back up and push it out from the inside.
Maybe there isn't enough room, but if you can get up under the exhaust manifold with something pointy you should be able to wiggle the broken piece out of there... get some sort of lube up in there if necessary.
Or maybe I am misreading it... is the sensor ok but something about the mounting location is broken?
