How hard is it to replace the upstream 02 sensors on a 98 Ford Taurus 3.0L/24DOHC.

The sensor looks like a big spark plug and you can rent the special removal tool (split socket) at Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone and a lot of parts houses have the tool(s) rental program. Actually it's more of a deposit you put up and when you retnru the tool you get a full refund.
Bank 1 Sensor 1 - Bosch sensor cost me $40. and it took me 15 minutes to change it, piece of cake. Mine's the 12 Valve Vulcan and sensor on top of the ehaust manifold next to the firewall. Pretty common job there and if you ask the guys at the parts stores they can probably tell you or if they have Chiltons manual it will show you where yours is. Lot of folks of for the week end but one of the 24V Duratech guys should be along and tell you exactly where it's located.

On the Duratec the O2 socket makes it pretty easy. I actually took mine off with a crescent wrench because my brother in law borrowed my socket and somehow forgot he borrowed it.
