idle problem

I put on a much less restrictive intake system on a 91 buick skylark 3.3 V6. Now the idle is gone way up. The brakes can barely hold it at a red, and on a chilly day, it can creep up to 65mph without me even touchng the gas. And if i even touch the gas, the tires screech, and can go from 0 to 85mph( top speed) in a few short seconds.

Then on a warm day it runs vry rich, black smoke, chugging and sputtering ect...

But if you revv the engine for awhile, it gets adjusted again and it works, ok.

I think i have tricked the computer into thinking the throttle is open much futher than it is.

The modification iv done to the intake is, i took off the orginial airbox, and used a large diamiter flexible ventilation hose, for a house as the air duct, and on the end i used a very large cylinderical filter. All wrapped in duct tape.

Anyways I was going to convert it back to regular airbox, if i cant fix the problem. But before i do that, i really want to be able to control the extra horsepower generated by my setup. Is there any CHEAP* way i can make the idle go down? ie. disconnect some wire, cut something, wrap some duct tape around it, weld something, drill a hole, use a zip tie ect...

Also has the rich mixture fouled up the O2 sensor?

And if i did mess up the O2 sensor, can i clean it off with alittle carb cleaner and a toothbrush?

you messed something up, changing the snorkel setup before the MAF should have no effect on how it runs (and have little effect on power)

The only item I wonder about is, if it had an IAT in the snorkel/airbox, and if so, did you relocate it correctly. Other than that, you got other issues

Yeah i reverted back to normal setup, it works ok now. lost alot of power but atleast it works. Umm as for relocation, it was relocated to the outside of the car, as i cut a large hole in the drivers side quater panel for the filter,

Yeah, its an old car, and it already looks like something madd maxx would drive. I patched the hole up with aluminum diamondplate from a truckbox.
