Cold weather starting

I have a 96 with a 3.4. 140,000 on the clock. I moved from FL. to NY and recently the car started to act funny. When I start in the morning it seems like it "skips" for about 1 min. then straightens itself out. The CE light flashes and the goes on steady for a time, and about 3 starts later goes off. I have checked codes and it says a misfire has occured. I was wondering if this indicates new wires and plugs are needed? They aren't that old, maybe 2 years, but will change again if needed. Just a pain to do.

Check the plugs. Cheep wires sometime don't last. Try AC Delco.

Yes - use AC Delco, here in Canada (I believe) they have a life time warrenty.

I have never heard of lifetime warranty on plugs or wires. Are you sure?

Caddy57, also change the fuel filter as part of regular maintenance.

I just got my 93 "tuned-up" at the dealership, and they said that if I choose the AC delco plugs and wires that there would be a life-time coverage. I wonder if this was offered thru the dealership and not thru AC delco.

That might be the case as I've seen dealerships and independent garages offer lifetime warranty on certain parts. A lot of the time it is done to keep you coming back for service as the shop figures they can make up any losses through other charges (labor) and/or services. A lot of parts stores offer lifetime warranty on parts figuring you will also buy other needed supplies at the time of sale, and the next time you come in to replace the part under warranty, they have you in the store again, hopefully purchasing other things.
