Gas gauge stuck

Hi
I have 97 Grand Marquis and now the gas gauge is stuck above full.
It should now show 3/4 of a tank.
I think this happened after i filled up the last time.
Any ideas. Thanks

I think it was just stuck and came loose as i drove the car

my 92 is doing that...have you ever smelled gas after getting out?? it may be a leaky ring around fuel pump causing either air or condensation on the pump or wires to the pump messing with the sending unit.
