1990 G20 Swap 305 for 350 question?

Hey people,
I just bought a 1990 Chevy G20 van for my band to travel for show and took it into the garage to find out the block is cracked, Blown head gasket, and the actually heads are woreless. Ya sucks to be me. So like usual I'm gonna pull the motor. NOW here is the thing, I was told that 305's had a lot of problems with heads and cams? So they told me to just swap for a 350. They said it would be more efficiant in the long run for that swap. And all I had to really do was get a new intake manifold with the new motor and everything should fit back together. I've worked on a dodge and replace the motor in my VW so I have an idea @ what I'm getting my hands into if it helps any.

Questions?
Best way too pull the motor throught the front?

ANYONE got a engine in good shape for cheap?

Anything else I should know before I get my hands dirty(special parts, etc...)?

Yes the 350 is a lot better engine.

The engine will have to come out the front.
Remove grill and stuff in front of engine.
You will need a cherry picker type engine hoist.

Do you have a good local bone/salvage yard in your area?
They should have some used engines and most will help advise you on how to install it.
Good luck
