I have a 2004 Grand Am. I just took the radio out to see if it had auxiliary so I could hook up my ipod to it. When I put it back in, the LCD display that shows the time and radio station and all is discolored. The middle is brighter and the left and right side are dark. I didn't remove any of the wires from the radio, I just angled it so I could see the back of it. What could have caused the display to display like this??

You are talking about the stock delco w/CD ?
LCD discolored ?
I think its only one color, red.

Thier is 1 light bulb on the back of the display, might have jarred that loose or its burnt... :dunno:

It is the stock monsoon with cd/mp3.

Yes it is just red, but like the backlight to it isn't working properly. Like the clock and all is displaying but it is dark on the 2 sides of it.

Is there anywhere i can see pictures of the back of it or how I would go about replacing or making sure the bulb is in there securely?

Ok the monsoon I think has more then one bulb.

Its easy to look and see, just pull it out like you did before.
Right on the back side of the display, thier should be a metal box type thing... it should have 1-3 plastic things with a screw head on them.
Make sure you either disconnect the plugs on the stereo or disconnect the battery BEFORE you screw them with a metal screwdriver, if you dont you could short something out

I thought thier might be something close in the Grand am forums with a pic of the stereo bulb too... I'll see......

Ok if the back of your radio looks like this...

Then it could be a bad display(burnt out) or it might be a bulb...
Take the screws off the top part and see if thiers bulbs on the back of the display..

Displays on these models do burn out and require dealer repairs from what I've heard.
I dont do many stock radio installs or repairs...

Good Luck
