Hi there;
I have an interesting problem with my Sunbird not charging.
I recently left my lights on all day and drained my battery. When I jump started the car I thought I may have reset the idle controle because it would not stay running unless I kept it matted. I then noticed that the volt meter in the dash was not indicating that the battery was charging. The car will run untill it completly drains the battery. I installed a new alternator and it still will not charge. So I installed a new battery and same thing. I am at a complete loss because even if I put a jumper from the post on the altornator and run it to the pos on the Batt it still won't charge.?????
I am baffled and i am running out of money!!! please help me:-):disappoin

On my 90 I had the same problem replaced the alternator still no charge finally narrowed it down, the fuse for the ac/heater in the fuse block was bad

The exciter pin has 0V's
is there a fuse for that? and if so where is it?
does anybody have a charging diagram for a 93 sunbird 3.1L?
Thanks!

You most likely have a blown fuse and if I remember right it is the heater fuse that mac mentioned previously. I had the same thing on my 91 Bird also.
Check your fuses
