i'm getting all my crap together to plan out a tt conversion. obviously i need to have a vr-4 ecu. i figured i mind as well do it all out right, so i am considdering the aem plug and play.

number one, how much would a vr-4 ecu cost v. the cost of the plug and play?

and does it come programmed already or would i need the vr4 ecu anyway?

also, if anyone happenes to know while reading this, would i need to get a vr-4 plenium since the N/A has the motor thing in it? i want to get ported and polished....

it would definately be wise to get a vr4 plenum... also i have a spare ECU and a spare VR4 Plenum. if you are interested, I'm sure we could work out a fair price...

Haha ok.. honestly I am not trying to be a dick.. but really you need to research cause if you are asking the questions your asking.. you dont have enuff info to make a compatant dissision... (wow.. I can't spell) there are a lot more options the a stand alone.. you could do a piggy back.. for cheeper.. and it would be easyer to tune.. FYI if you get AEM the running rate is 1500 bucks just to tune it..

The AEM EMS comes with a map that should get your car to start. Anything after that is up to you, or you can pay someone at 100+ an hour to tune it. If you do not have a strong understanding of everything that goes into making the engine run then I wouldn't get the AEM EMS.

yeah, i may not know a lot about tuning or programming a cars ECU. i just turned 17 in june, so maybe i'm a little young for this subject. i've also only had this car a year. i feel a disadvantage.

i was just looking for a good comparison between a standalone and a piggy back. after the conversion i don't think i'll have any money for proper ecu mapping so maybe its not worth it. thanks for the heads up guys.
