Modman,

I am interested in pic of your car because I am restoring a 99 diablo in blue that's been hit from the rear and the side and my body guy needs pics to go off of and it looks identical to yours. Do you have other pics available?

Modman,

I need pics of the int. and ext. of the car.....close ups of the engine too.

I have a pic of the rear included.

The car was burned and hit in the front... it was a drug seized car from Florida, so i got it for a real nice deal.

Please help me with as many pics as possible.

I'll owe you a big favor.

What are you planning to do with this car?

modman
02-01-2003, 01:19 AM
Took 5 pics today and I'll have to load them one by one. I don't drive the car as much due to the rainy season so I have the battery charger on it. Also notice the rear bumper as I had the ugly bumper lights & reverse shaved off and completely removed the exhaust system to fire downwards shaving off 75 lbs of steel and man it's sounds like 2 Ferraris and a muscle car! As you can see I love cars and have a few nice ones. Enjoy

MaximusGTR

I'll trade you that 5.7 litre for my dad's 5.7 litre out of his Z28. J/K, no but seriously that car is so clean, whats the down payment on a baby like that?

modman
02-04-2003, 03:22 AM
He He, you've got pretty good eyes Mr Porsche, not quite and E55 but a Carlsson E320 daily workhorse. And for you Maximus, a downpayment depends on you as long your credit is good. I put 25% down and use the rest of the money into investments. Honestly, anyone can get a Diablo if you put your goals to it, it's not like million dollar car you know. I started buying cars a while back and worked my way up and it's very easy to do, just don't sit on a car for too long. Build good credit, that's the key..... build credit and make more money....

yO Modman.....

Great looking Diablo...and even better that its a Roadster....

I have been having some problems with the vaccum leaking on my Roadster that operates the roof release....I have tried leaving the engine running as well...but I just get a tiny hiss when I press the release buttin...and now have to use the emergency catches underneath instead...

I was just wondering if you have ever had problems with this...and also what is your procedure to release your roof...

Thanx

Jabba

emakabi
02-04-2003, 01:33 PM
Jabba,

you might need to replace the solinoids that release the roof.

Jabba The Hutt
02-04-2003, 01:40 PM
Well it doesnt really have solinoids as such...it works on air pressure...although I guess there maybe a solinoid to release the vaccum...but as I said I cant keep the air pressure in... that seems to be the main problem...

How many miles can a Diablo go without any major problems?

Eric Lee
02-07-2003, 10:31 PM
I not sure how much problems you guys are having with your Diablos.
I have about 1-2 problems /year.
Recently, the clutch pump broke it cost HK$ 3000 to fix (US$ 384).
I was told it is a signal that my clutch needs replacement (heavy price stuff).
Its is true?

jota^7
02-07-2003, 10:42 PM
Eric Lee:

Well, when was the last time you went in for servicing (changed clutch), how many miles? And how often do you drive the car?

Eric Lee
02-07-2003, 10:47 PM
i have had the car for 1 year only
had it serviced when i bought it
the car has 9500 KM on the clock when i got it and now its 12000
only drive it once a week
never had clucth changed

Eric Lee:

Well it sounds like its too early for a clutch change, but then again I am not sure, I dont own one myself. Any help would be appreciated for Eric Lee. Only 1 year? Still new eh, must be a beauty. What year, and what model is it? If you have any pics can you upload them please? Thanks!!! :D

Eric Lee
02-07-2003, 10:54 PM
I actually got it second hand.
Its 1995 model (2wd) with SV look a like conversion.
Minor mods have been done i.e. exhaust, high flow air-filter..... but otherwise pretty much standard.

I had posted a pic a about 6 months ago.

Scott 02

Sounds expensive to get things fixed on those cars.

Sean
02-08-2003, 01:39 AM
Well if you can afford to buy one it shouldn't be too hard to pay for parts.

With the 80k Miura door replacement as an exception. ouch..

modman
02-08-2003, 02:22 AM
Well Jabba, I have the same problem also. It sometimes work and sometimes doesn't but haven't had the opportunity to look at it but soon will and if I find out I will let you know but for now I have to open the lid and pull the levers to release them. Oh well no big deal, other than that my car has no other problems and seems to be reliable with 24k miles on it and runs great. What year is yours? I was thinking of painting the tail lamps like yours or go carbon fiber but still deciding. I made my own dash out of carbon fiber and looks much better.

Bob.

Well I guess we dont know how the previous owner owner treated the clutch...I have heard stories about a brand new clutch being burnt out in a single day at an airfield (doing lots of hard launches I presume)

Through normal driving I manged to get between 15-20,000 KMS out of my old 2 WD before the clutch needed replacing...I then insisted they only replace the clutch plate (the part that wears out) this is a fraction of the cost of the whole assembly...

I never believe anything a dealer says as they are driven by huge profits in order to keep their jobs...they will tell you anything to justify giving you a big bill.

Shes a '97....I have spent alot of time and money trying to get the roof release fixed as I like to see everyting working the way it should...but good to know I am not alone with this problem..it appears the pipes that store the vaccum (and also work the heaters) perish and cause a tiny air leek so the vaccum cant build up properly...hope you have better luck than I did trying to get it working...

May I say you have a very clean and tidy car...I have seen other people make and fit the carbon dash and they look awesome...also how did you get hold of that rear bumper or is it cause you have the newer design roadster ?? I would love to hear how your Diablo sounds... as again I have spent alot of time trying to get my one sounding as I think it should....but I am still not happy with it...maybe you could listen to my car and give me your opinion on why it doesnt sound right ??

modman
02-09-2003, 05:24 PM
Well Jabba, I had the bumper removed and had the red lousy reflectors taken off along with the reverse lights and had them covered smooth to look clean. I was thinking of doing the same with the side lights also but may have problems with the law. On the exhaust part I removed 2 of the 4 cats and ran straight pipe looping down and the power difference is very noticeable, in fact when I drove from 1st to 2nd on hard accelleration I got all 4 wheels to spin causing the car to drift to the side and the sound is incredi-bull like 2 ferraris and a muscle car. Only one drawback to some as it is very loud but for me it's perfect, and it shaves off about 75lbs.

Eric Lee

In Hong Kong car maintenance can be expensive.
We have heavy road registration tax.
I pay HK$ 12000 (US $ 1580) for our annual lic. and (US $ 80) for annual inspection.
Petrol is US$ 1.5 /liter.
The Lambo dealer in HK charges and arm and a leg for their service so I have resorted to using my own mechanic with privately imported parts.
The down side is I have ordered wrong parts before but I still end up getting it cheaper in total.

No problem Emakabi, but now as you said you would owe a big favor! Hmmm what shall I wish for? J/K!.......... glad they helped out. Oh by the way yesterday I took someone I knew for a test drive at night and romped on the accellerator from 1st to 2nd and got all 4 wheels to spin and man the car was drifting to the left, it was amazing as it was the first time I have had this happen to me, the only thing I could think of was that it was cold at the time and the cold air helped on the low end torque. The car has some massive torque in 2nd and 3rd gears.

Anyone mind explaining how the Diablo Roadster top operates, is it automatic or manually removable.

emakabi
02-12-2003, 11:19 PM
There are two ways:

First, in between the seats, there is a green release button on the top of the center panel which can be used to pop the top from the roof or the rear.

second, you can hook up remote solinoids to the roof and rear, then connect them to one of the buttons on your alarm remote.

Love the interior trim of you car.
What year model is your Diablo?

emakabi
02-13-2003, 10:49 PM
That pic is not from my car. My interior was damaged from the drug bust it was involved in, and as a result it was totally slashed.

I'm redoing the interior in black with blue stitching. Hear is a pic of the redone seats as well as the door panels.
