1995 Transmission Woes. Not Limp Mode

I have a 1995 Intrepid. It has about 250,000 Km on it (Canadian :)).
The other day my wife went to drive the car it moved, and then began to rev high with no movement. Even reverse didn't work.
I jumped in the car, turned off the engine, restarted and it began to move again. Then, as it got ready to go to Second, it just revved and stayed in 'neutral' for lack of a better word. :banghead:
Even when I restart, the reverse doesn't function either. Restarting just restored the 1st gear for brief, forward movement.
I checked the levels and the fluid is good with no burning smell. I topped a little bit or ATF+4 in just in case it was a little low. No fix.
Does this sound like a solenoid pack issue? :screwy: I don't have easy access to a dealer with a scanner. I am going to drain the tranny and check for particles or any other obvious damage.
With the Solenoid, will I have to reprogram the tranny if I have it changed?

:runaround:
Well after replacing the filter and fluid (just an attempt to eliminate some simple problems), we started asking some Dodge mechanics.
Due to the fact that the Tranny never has reverse, and it loses ability after it tries to shift to 2nd gear, he said the clutch is damaged in some regard. Hence the inability for it to change the hear. Reverse attempts to use the clutch before the car even moves, therefore it never works.
I managed to find a replacement tranny (used) for $150 CDN about 149.95 USD  - just a money joke.
I will replace the tranny and reuse my new fluid and filter.
After all the guessing, it was a bad tranny.
One thing to watch for. The roller bearings in the side of the transmission housing were falling out of the transmission. It failed BEFORE something like that happened. Guess it was just time to go.
