Corrado W8

Wouldn't it be cool if VW came out with a new VW corrado, and put a W8 engine in it with a 6speed tranny.
It has been too long since VW had a sporty car, I mean the GTi is pretty cool, and the pasat has a W8 egine which is killer, but it is a sedan...

Just what the Corrado needs, more wight at the front :D
If you do the swap, you'll be my hero for life. Can't even begin imagine the cost though.
Oh, and you only have eight months left :D

8 months left till what?
The weight wouldn't be too big a concern because the car would be rear wheel drive. To do it you would need a wrecked w8 passat, and some parts to a BMW or Audi to make rear wheel drive, and some handy work.

Since you need the tranny of the W8 anyway, why not go 4motion[Quattro]?
And about the date, I got it backwards.

not a big fan of quatro, though it is an awesome system, and would be very difficult to install on an older car. I am a fan of rear wheel drive, if you have to drive in the snow, then rear wheel drive is not the prefered choice, asuming you have a destination to get to, it is however more fun...

ok you posted in november of '02 this idea and now its august of '03 so i was wondering how close you are to doing this project or owning a corrado? The W8 would be sweet with a 6-speed tranny, alot of other mods would be going into that thing as well. Better make it look sweet too. I would seriously go with an AWD system audi quattro does not suck if you are not a fan your missing out. Without some serious suspension mods your gonna kill your self with a RWD ( i really dont care how good a driver you are). I was thinking of going with a new VR6 off a Jetta or GTI and then turboing. Then with either a RWD or an AWD system. Much faster than a W8 and much more fun, in my opinion. On VWVortex there was a guy who has an AWD Corrado and he said it was the sweetest thing he has ever done. By next year i will have begun my project or i will have scrapped it to saved money for the 2005 Audi RS3. that car is gonna be sweet.

How would Audi parts help? Audis aren't RWD.

666...I'm pretty damn sure you will not put a w8 in an older VW. Sorry but that swap is a HUGE dream right now. The engine and trans are completely different than ANYTHING VW has made before. The swap would indeed be a cool thing if it could be done...but the older A2 chasis that the corrado sits on and the new front sub frame designed for the w8 are not really compatable even for a professional welder. Plus there's the added injection issues...list goes on...it's not something that's been tried before and swapping a NB rsi 1.8T with a 6speed would be way easier and tons more benificial.

This would be as cool as the 2.7T swap a guy from ClubB5 did on his Passat Variant. Great aspirations for the Corrado, but a lot of work. Good Luck.

ya imma agree wit redliner, the swap would be sooooo far out thereee. and ya it would be cool too seee. but jus makin a whole front end even fit and hold the weight of the W8 is already crazyy.. a 1.8t would be much easier and alot cheaper. but hey if u got tons of cash layin around. if u ever get it done send me a pic.
