How would you go about cutting in the shell of the model to for example cut out doors etc?

thanx:toothless

Hi, take a look look at this thread:-

cutting (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t74979.html)

In particular the link by 'FlyOnTheWall'.

Personally I use a hot scalpel just because the missus is a nurse and gets me all sorts of straight and curved blades.

Hey max nice to see you on the boards ;)

I use a Xacto #11 knife. This is what to do. Go around the groves in the car like the door lines, hood lines or whatever you want to cut out. Do this until you cant push it out. Dont apply too much pressure or youll go off track and ruin the whole car. After then do some sanding around the edges for a smooth finish.

P.S. - Do it b4 you paint it

just take a knife heat it over a candle and cut the parts but be easy on it and slow cuz it will melt the plastic

Yeah, agree with Supratuner on that one.
Maybe we should replace all the 'hots' with 'pretty warms'.:thinkerg:

I use just a big craft knife and put it on a stove element for big straight cuts, or i just cut the panel lines very thin until the knife breaks through on the inside. I agree with everyone else, take it slow and steady and don't push in too hard or you will risk screwing up.
