Valve Adjustment Help?

Can anyone link me or give me the basics on how to perform a valve adjustment on the basic 6G72 NA engine, without EGR? I can't search the forum for it because this site uses Google as a medium, and for some crazy-assed odd reason, my computer just doesn't like Google and won't have anything to do with it.

There is no "valve adjustment" or lash adjustment on these. You probly have lifter tick. Only real cure is to get 99 lifters. DOHCs use hydraulic lifters.

Thanks. I feel dumb now.... do you have a list of parts required to do this job (excluding the intake manifold gasket, valve cover gasket, and the hydraulic lifters themselves)?

how many miles do you have? if you are going to do it and are close to a 60/120k servise I would do that as well.. IE timing belt, water pump (if it needs it) oil pump in 120 ext

p.s. I can hook you up with parts if you need them... let me know

Approximately 123,600 miles, but the timing belt and alternator belts have been replaced recently, and I bought it at about 122,000, so I lucked out there, and my my oil pump and my water pump are functioning normally. I appreciate your help and all, but what I really need to know is what kind of things I need to buy in order to perform this in the near future. What I know (some of which I already have) I need to have so far:
- 24x 3rd gen. lifters (may as well replace them all)
- 1x intake manifold plenum gasket (for dismantling the manifold)
- 2x valve cover gaskets
I've priced a set of brand new 24 3G lifters on ebay at about $109.00 + $5 shipping. Is that fair?

That's a good price for '99 lifters.

I see. First place I normally go is 3sx.com, but they're always expensive, so I normally compare them to others. In this case, I'd be saving a little over $100 ($109 compared to 3sx's $225).

T_T No kidding... Granted, I'd assume they're probably top quality parts, but the price difference between that quality guarantee and working, new parts on Ebay is enough to make me wonder... perhaps they haven't had very good business lately?

The group buy price is very good and the lifters are from the same manufacturer that Mitsu gets theirs from and the same that 3sx gets theirs from....
