Hey i own a 87 camaro. Ever since the 2nd week i had the thing, ive always heard a fuzz/static in my speakers sound. On top of that Some times only 3 or 2 speakers work, and thats not all. Sometimes the speakers sound drops really low and wont come back up no matter how much i jiggle the volume.
A good ol fashioned whack to the dash will kick the speakers back in to action for a few hours or minutes.
About a week ago i put in a whole new sound system -- err well rather i just changed the tape player to a cd player, and put 6 new speakers in. Since then all but one work perfectly! No fuzz or loss in volume, sound is wonderful!
Anyways I have come to belive that the wires have a short in them. How much do you think it would run me to have the short fixed/replaced with all new wires?
Problem: Speaker issues ~ Wire short
~How much for the short to be repaired or replaced?
Thanks guys! id be lost without your greater knowledge! :smokin:

Hmmm... you could just tape new wire to old and pull it through and do it yourself. That'd be cheap. If you've installed your own speaker, and head unit, then this is definitiely within your range of ability, even If you have to pull trim panels to run the wiring... which you very well may have to do. Not sure about 3 gens, but in 2 gens there's a channel that runs undere the sill plate that holds the wiring harnesses going to the trunk, etc. Easy to get to.
And yeah, you had / have a short and or some bad grounds.
