Hello , I have a 2003 accord EX . How do I remove the hub assembly from the front passenger side? I have tried a few things but can't remove it . I need to get hub off.
Thanks,
Shannon

Are you referring to the right front wheel hub? And what did you do so far?

Yes, it is the right front hub . I can get the disk/rotor off but the hub I can't budge. I don't want to damage it . I can also push the front driveshaft through the hub but I can't move the hub.
Thanks
Thanks

OK, you want to remove the hub from the knuckle. It is bolted to the knuckle from the backside. I think there are four bolts that go through the knuckle into the hub. On the earlier Hondas, you had to remove the hub to get the rotors off so they could be replaced. I do not know if that is the same on the 2003. But maybe not as you said you got the rotor off. I am interested as to why then you need the hub off; do you have bad bearings? If it is to replace the axle, you do not need to remove the hub. Instead you split the lower ball joint and the steering ball joint and remove the axle nut, then pull the whole knuckle, hub and rotor out and to the side. Then you can remove the axle.

Hello mpumas . The reason I need to get the hub is out is that the "spindle or sprocket" for the ABS sensor seems to be on the backside of the hub . It isn't a typical "sprocket" that you normally see . It seems to be in a rubber type washer or o-ring with small metal bars in it that the sensor reads. The sprocket isn't on the end of the knuckle like one would think .
I can move the lower ball joint , with the spindle that axle nut goes on , away from the hub , almost push it completely out of the hub towards the transmission. I can't see where the knuckle is attached to the hub since it pushes away from it .
Thanks,
Shannon

but the abs sprocket should be on the axle not the hub because if thats the case hows the abs gonna know when to operate if its not receiving input from the axle sprocket. so like mpumas said seperate the ball joints with a ball joint seperater and then you can get to the back side of the hub and get to the abs sensor and if the axle sprocket for abs isnt on the axle then how do u know if you have abs or not if you can post pictures it helps alot because hondas are very relative but every honda is a little different than the other.. but they all have one thing in common they are all made or manufactured in japan and shipped to america and assembled

Thanks Wiseguy , the axle sprocket is not your typical axle sprocket . It is inside the housing where the hub resides . It is not a typical sprocket in that it is small metal bars housed in a rubber washer type . I can get the axle out but the hub remains in place . The axle sprocket seems to be next to the bearings . I will try to post pictures.

Thanks Wiseguy , I think I see the problem . The axle sprocket "teeth" are covered by a metal band or cover . When I looked through the hole where the sensor goes , all I could see was this smooth metal band . I assume this covers the teeth to protect them or keep grado from forming on them . They are not readily visible like the sprocket on the rear . I noticed this after looking in my Haynes book .The teeth are covered until you remove the rubber boot.
I am assuming this anyway . I know what happens when I "assume" things though.
Let me know if I am correct.
Thanks
