Hi, heres a few pics of the C-West car. It's almost done, bar the chasis and final detailing. I love how the color came out, but I'm about to strip it and try again because I'm not happy with the surface prep I did...

What type of paint is that? Color and Manufacturer? I like it a lot. What makes you so unhappy with it?? Looks good.

Ah, the color. It's turning into my worst nightmare!!!

The base coat is a custom mix of Tamiya Orange, yellow and red with flat base so it goes on satin. The next five coats are tamiy clear mixed with Wave Yellow Pearl, and the following Pearl-Ex pigments - Interference Gold, Brilliant Gold and a little Sparkle Gold. It doesn't show up that well in the photos, under good sunlight it's sort of like Labourgini Califonia Orange, but way brighter. Those photos we taken in doors so it's a bit dull. It top it off with Tamiya clear.

Problem is... the first time I got it on perfect, then rubbed through it while polishing (doh :( ), so off it went to see Mr Brake Fluid. This time it all went fine, but there are some pearl 'tide marks' in the clear caot where I shot it to heavy, so tommorow it will be off to the stripping tank again. Third times a charm!!!

yes those rims came with the kit.

lotus_man: did you lower it at all? it looks lower then mine...and did you do the same thing as fly did with his on the side pieces of the body-kit, because they don't seem to be sticking out as much as mine do.

fly: what the hell became of your C-West RX-7?? i was anxiousley looking forward to it being done!

I've not been working on it, as mention in the original thread, i kinda got side tracked from other stuff doing it so reqular updates were not to be expected. Plan was to do it out of box - apart from the corrections - but i hadn't realised it didn't have the correct hood, so i want to make one and add it to my parts. I have also been giving some thought into making a decal set for the proper racing version but not made final decision on that, not sure it will be worth it???

Thanks for the kind words. It's encouraging me to get the paint right this time!

Those are the kit rims, it looks lower 'cause it's resting on them, I might lower it a bit, but the body extensions make it look quite low anyway. I may also change the rims, not sure they look that good in gold.

Props go to Chris (FOTW), the body was modded following his excellent tips, I think it makes a big improvement.

If anyone has any side view photos of the car un lowered, I'd love to see them...

If the hood is holding you back, maybe this pic will set things in motion :D
