swaping out my 302 for a 360?

Can anyone tell me if a 360 will bolt up to an automatic tranny that was bolted to a 302. Are the engine mounts located in different places? Anywhere to buy kits for mounts, etc..? Anything that I need to know before trying this? Thanks

It would really help to know which Ford model you intend to use for this swap.

The Ford 360 is an member of the 'FE' engine family. These had nothing in common with the 302. It would be safe to assume it would not fit the trans.

The engine mounts were different and in a different location.

The 360 is physically a large, wide and heavy engine; much more so then the 302. Unless the Ford model was designed to accept a FE block or other Ford big block, you are out of luck, because the 360 may not physically fit and/or will squash the stock front springs.

Finally, why use the 360? By far the most common FE engine is the 390 which would be a better choice.

Even better is to forget the 360 and swap in a 351 Windsor. It full fit easily in place of the 302, will produce comparable power to the 360, is cheap to buy and has many more performance parts available.

Agreed with MR. 360 was a "smaller engine" for pickups, never installed in cars. It is NOT a good candidate for a swap. Actually, it's not a good candidate for anything except replacement... (:-

Thanks for the input. I was thinking of the swap cause I was offered the 360, but today I found a '94 302 to replace my '84 302, so should be an easy swap.

Watch the harmonic balancer and flexplate/flywheel. Balance is different over the eras of 302s.
