Okay, any 90-91 cluster will fit that has a tach on it.... it can be from a Civic Si, EX, or LX and i believe all Crx's came with a tach.... but since you have a 91 civic, it has to be from a 90-91 model civic or crx, it can't be from a 88-89 because they are shaped differently and its just a huge hassle to get it to fit!

if you get an external tach you would have to run wires to your distributor..... not worth the hassle, just get a Si cluster for under 45 bucks off eBay or just go to your local junkyard, they will have em!

You should be able to undo the screws, holding your mileage ticker, and swap them out.
88-89's are not plug and play.
Also, since you have a auto, you need to find a auto EX cluster, that way you will keep your gear indicators. Unless you dont care about those.

or you can just take a needle and move the numbers back, thats what i did when i had my DX.... and screw the indicators, its not necessary..... just look down... ;)

I agree, get a 90-91 cluster, you can fit a 88-89, but its a big hassle to wire it up and there is a gap on the top. the 90-91 is plug-n-play so its easy
Now for the switching your odometers, i have a how-to on my website on how to do this, because this is what I did. the link should be in my signature.

first take out the cluster, then take off the plastc covering, then take a pin and where the odometer is, just take the pin and move the numbers back ;) it works perfectly and doesnt break anything!! I did that when i had the DX, i bought a Si cluster with 100+ miles on it and my DX only had like 83, but i rolled it back to 80 :)
