1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. I just purchased this and it has all the interior bulbs removed and the chime module. I have guessed it is one of the door ajar switches and have 4 new ones on order to replace. I was just wondering if that does not do the trick if there are some other things I need to check? Thank you. Also, is there some sort of trick to installing the switches when I get them?

The switches work by grounding the circuit. There should be a single wire that connects to the lug on the back of the switch and then screws into the hole. Possibly, one (or more) shorted out.
When I changed out one of mine, I "pretwisted" the wire CCW a few turns so when I screwd it in, it would untwist.
There is also one in the tailgate you may want to check but you need to pull the panel off to get to it.

In my 89'there were 2 lights....one over the front passenger area...one in the rear above the cargo? area...both had their on switches and were also connected to the door switches....HOWEVER the one in the rear had the switch and IF that switch was turned on manually ALL the interior lights would stay on even with the hatch and all doors closed....
