I am looking for a good set of instructiojns on how to install a new Timing Belt on a 1994 3.4L DOHC GTP. I have done it before but the motor was not spun so it was pretty easy to put evrything back exactly where it was at. This time it broke going down the road so I have no idea where to begin. Brand new Goodyear belt only lasted 38,000 miles :banghead: . Also, do any of you know if there are special tools that can be used for this and where I may be able to get them. Appreciate any input.
248,000 miles and, well sort of still kicking!!

A goodyear Gatorback belt broke after 38,000 miles????? How did you accomplish that? You may want to check pully alignment and freeplay and make sure that a tensioner or idler isnt binding up and causing excessive drag o the belt. Also make sure this time to make sure that all the much and sirt and grimy ripped off cogs from the broken belt are all cleaned out.
A good resource that i've always used is http://www.60degreev6.com . Once there, click on DOHC on the left hand side under the heading "existing articles. Then click on DOHC maintanance. Then click "Cam Timing Picture Walkthrough". There ya go!!!!!!!!!! Hope it helps out and if you havnt bookmarked this site yet, you may want to. It has a lot of great information about all 60 degree GM motors. Very interesting to read about some of the myths about IAT mods and electronic superchargers and things.
Well, good luck with the T-belt job. I wish I could get my hands on another older GP with the 3400. I think it would be a fun motor to work on.
