Just a little idea I tried earlier today on my ITR hood that I plan on stripping and repainting.

Base color of testors jade green, then I used 3m professional masking tape to cover the entire hood, then I drew in the flames with a pen and cut accordingly with a VERY sharp knife. Painted over with testors white. Simple technique really, but more emphasis needs to be put on making the flames more curvy.

An airbrush would achieve excellent results... :)

It's funny... even when I'm using a brand new blade no. 11 I can't seem to cut the masking tape cleanly.
I feel sad.:sun:

Scale Auto Magazine had a real nice article a while ago about doing flames. They advocate drawing your design on tracing paper first and then cutting out frisket film for the flame itself. I think either method is fine, but with theirs you can have symmetrical flames on both sides, since all you do is reverse the template to do the other side.

Not bad! With a little more practice this should look great!

Not really in to this "Flames thing" on cars....maybe on some of the early hotrods etc...but not on a new type car :bloated: :bloated:
