This website is really very frustrating.

Many, many, many, many times I have took the time to do research for people and then type an answer to their question only to have this da** server dump my reply and say, "Invalid thread contact administrator." I mean, like, it's been doing it for a year or better and it is high time they get it fixed. I know computers and software and there is no reason for that condition to continue this long. :slap: WEB ADMINISTRATORS - LISTEN UP! Fix the da** thing because you are running people off and you don't really have that many regulars here anyway.
If you need to know how to fix it, go to www.extremetech.com where I hang with my Geek buddies and post it on their website and they will tell you how to fix it. If you didn't know, that is PCMagazine forum website. We have any and all kinds of Geeks there with PHD's and I am certain they will be glad to help you 'cause whatever you are doing is not right.
If any of you other users have experienced this phenomenon unique to this website and server please speak up.
Thank you and have a nice week end.

I can honestly say I've never once received this error. I'll pass your info on to the admins to see what advice they have.

I found that if I click on the Post Reply button, I have to do it within about a minute of I'd get an error saying I have to log in, again. But no problem using the Quick Reply feature which I've been using after being "logged out" 3 times and had to retype everything hehe
Probably related to Huney1's error, not sure, only done asp .net pages, gotta look into php sometime :)

Yes, that is exactly it. I just tried to help the guy with the tranny that quit and retyped my reply FIVE times so out of frustration I put it in multiple replies. The server dropping a user after one or two minutes is ridiculious and I've been participating in forums for years and never saw that phenomenon anywhere. Quick reply huh? OK, I'll give it a try and thanks for bearing me out.

Where do I find the quick reply. This time it wouldn't take me to the EDIT option so I could edit my previous post. When I clicked Save it took me to the edit option. Maybe gremlins chewing on the lines.

Rod, what do you want in a screen shot? Top menu, View then Page Source?
I can't find how to get back to my private e mail here.

I think if you were able to do a text copy and past of the message, then paste it in a private message, that would suffice. I forwarded your private message to the admin, so we'll see what he has to say.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page there is a white box you can type your message. The button to the left under the box is labeled "Post Quick Reply."What browser are you using? Sometimes I have found out that problem that can crop up can be browser related. I've been using Mozilla Firefox for years, but there are certain things I need to use Internet Explorer for such as viewing a parts diagram at a certain website for my lawnmower. My kids need to use Internet Explorer to play certain games, and my wife who occasionally works from home has to use IE because certain buttons do not show up to edit her work on the software that is shown through IE. Try using an alternate browser to see of it clears up your issue.

Quick question: Do you have the little box where you sign into the site that says "Remember Me" checked? I used to have this issue as you are experiencing and found out by accident that if you have that box checked, you won't get logged out. Sometimes a person's computer might have a program running in the background that clears coolies on occasion or they have their security settings too low, not allowing cookies. That may affect your issue with constantly being logged out while on this site.

Been using Mozilla for about two years but have IE7 also available. I'll try IE and see what happens and I did check the remeber me box. XP Home should have the latest updates and SP2. Thanks.

I very rarely post here anymore due to the exact issues raised above by Huney1, after typing in sometimes an extensive answer, it gets blasted out.. never used to happen before, nothing's changed here on my end that I know of..

I've found that replying to a post on my work computer is about 50/50 while when I'm at home I never had a problem.

I'm using Firfox without issue (fortunately) both from work and home.
In the mean time, one thing you may want to start doing until the issues get worked out is to Select All and Copy. The information you all have to provide it too valuable to the forum to not share, and hopefully the copy and paste will be a reasonable compromise while the admin is looking into the issue.

Rod, thank for mentioning that as I forgot to do that in my last post.I ended up having to do that earlier this year when my ISP's email service changed it's software and whenever you tried to send an email it would not send it AND delete the text. You'd get an error message that the message was not sent and the message would be gone. So I started copying and then pasting it into a new message until it got sent.
