Blower/fan and power window problem....

I have a 99 Grand Prix se. The driver's side window has always been slow to roll up since I purchased it in 2001. A while ago it had problems rolling up at all. It will roll down okay, but will stop or crawl up when I roll it up. It finally gave out and will not roll back up. I had a friend of mine help me bring the window back up and we taped it to the frame until I can get it in to repair it. I have some friends who have said that it's the motor gone bad and will cost ~$500 to repair this. I was hoping that was not the case. Has anyone heard of this?

Also - I have had an issue for a couple of years now where the front passenger side will leak, or seems to, when it rains. It actually seems to be coming from right underneath the glove box in the front and depending on the rain can totally drench the floor on that side. This seems to happen about the time my blower goes out - it will have problems running on the lower settings and finally just gives out completely and I've been having to replace the blower yearly for the past two years, which I think is a bit ridiculous. I've read the forums and saw mention of this being a common problem and related possibly to the leaking in the front passenger side. Is there anything I should mention to the service dept to look for as they keep on replacing the blower and I feel it's putting a band-aid on a big wound.

Any suggestions? Feedback? Etc? I really love my grand prix but at this point am wondering if I should just be looking for a newer model.

Thanks!

THe window problem could be ither the motor or the regulator assy. The motors have a thermal limiter built in that can fail and trip prematurely, or the motor could be just worn out. If it was the regulator assy, and it's binding, this could have caused excessive stress on the motor and ruined it too.

On the water issue, tell the garage to check the seal in the cowl area where the air intake is. This seal is known to fail causing water intrusion issues. Also install a cabin air filter from a like year Buick Regal. The Grand Prix has the same heater box and the spot for it, but they never came factory with them. The cabin air filter will keep dirt and debris out of your HVAC system prolonging comnent life, as well as help with the water leak issue.

Thanks for the information. It ended up being the regulator assembly - which they're wanting $494 to replace it, which is all well and good if I hadn't just gotten out of the hospital and such. (Yes, am aware everyone has a story). Does anyone know - would it be cheaper for me to find the part online and order it and see if someone would be able to fix it that way?
